Old building collapsed and the community embarked upon constructing a new state of the art centre - for all communities. Feasibility study analysed the need and community donated the land worth about 2.5 Million dollars for the project. Various other individuals and grants bodies (Lotteries, NZCT, Akarana, Dragon, Blue Sky, Air Rescue, Trillion, Pub Charity, Foundation North, Four Winds, The Trusts Community, Southern Trust, Lion Foundation and One Foundation) all contributed and now we are at a stage where a final push is required to complete the project.
A new state of the art center for engaging all age groups and empowering have-nots is the need to engage youth. The centre also has 7-independent refuge units to cater for short stay for the victim violence.
About us
IANZ is the community group that has been empowering multi-ethnic and diverse population since 1981. Youth engagement and fight against family violence has been the major focus. The group caters to a large population base and in one year the facilities are used by more than 300 different groups. A real assimilation in practice.
Use of funds
The internal fit outs to cost about 600K. For the car park we have a private loan of 1.3M to pay back in next 6 months. The fencing and retaining and other minor works will also be required. Any excess funds will be used for health (gym equipment) programs
