Bunny is a charming, tiny dog, who has broken her leg, just weeks before her first puppies are due to be born
Manawatu / Whanganui
Bunny had a fall and snapped both bones in her left front leg.
Bunny is pregnant with her first puppies.
Because Bunny is so tiny, and pregnant, surgery and anesthesia are challenging and risky. She needs a specialist surgeon and anaesthetist with their team and skills, and some time in the referral hospital.
She then needs aftercare for multiple weeks to watch that the bones are healing and that the puppies are doing well.
Bunny is the most charming dog. She is a very important and loved member of our family.
Bunny loves snuggles and meeting people, especially children. Even at her tiny 1.7kg, she loves to welcome, and make friends with other doggies.
If Bunny's recovery does not have any complications the surgery and aftercare costs are estimated at $10,000 - $12,000. That does not include time off needed to care for her and attend procedures or appointments, or any complications with her recovery as her puppies are due in only a few weeks.
If there is anyone.who would like to contribute to Bunny's care and recovery, her family will be so very grateful. Her puppies will also be happy for anyone's generosity and kindness helping to ensure that they can grow up with a healthy and happy mum.
Thank you very much for reading this far. If you are able, and would like, to help with this unexpected cost, our family will be extremely appreciative.
Surgery, hospital, and medical care. Aftercare and recovery costs.
Anyone who wants to help will be greatly appreciated.
Complications 25 December 2024
Unfortunately Bunny's recovery from giving birth has not gone smoothly. Her uterus was not recovering as it should, and her broken leg was not healing. She went to the hospital again for intensive care, and another surgery to remove her uterus and amputate her broken leg. The puppies were bottle fed at home for a week πΌ. They are now with a very kind, experienced, foster person. We're hoping for the best for the πΆ. Bunny is back home, and adjusting well to hopping around on 3 legs ππ Recovery for Bunny is looking promising βΊοΈ
The total cost so far is now around $17,000!
Thanks so much for the people who have supported and donated. If we can keep sharing the page, hopefully more will come in π€
