**update from my vet**

My wife and I got a 8 month old rescue dog (Moose) about a month and a half ago. We took Moose to my parents place for a visit and he got super excited and ran out of the car and bolted across the road before I could grab him.

Moose got ran over by a SUV and was so frightened he ran off! I tried to chase him down and he ran out of sight and I lost him. Had a search party for hours through the night, couldn't find him for 3 days. We got a call from a local who found moose hiding in his garage limping.

Took him to the emergency vet and spent my every last penny on x-rays and a consultation and pain killers and got told Moose either needs surgery to fix his leg or surgery to amputate it. I asked what price range this would fall under and was shocked to hear it could be as high as $8000 😯 I've since been to my vet and he thinks that moose is young enough that he could heal! I have borrowed and paid $1000 so far on x-rays pain killers and emergency specialist appointments. Continuous x-rays and appointments to come and reevaluating an amputation on Dec 13th! Anything to help towards this would be amazing!

We are young, newly married, and now broke... 1 Nursing student and 1 building apprentice so don't have spare money right now... We really love our boy! Anything at all would help.

Use of funds

Surgery or leg amputation for our puppy.

Pain killers.

Any other vet bills relating to this.

If goals no where near the mark then money will very sadly have to go to putting him down... And any extra to help get a new dog when we are emotionally ready.

Moose x-rays painkillers and specialist appointment costs  14 November 2022

Moose has been to my vet today and he suggests moose is young enough to heal if kept in his cage for a month. I've already borrowed $1000 on emergency clinic bills x-rays and pain killers and he is going to need more x-rays and will reassess amputation in a month on the 13th of Dec thank you so much for the help! More vet bills x-rays and potentially an amputation to come! But moose is home safe and we will take it as we go.

Good luck Moose! Don’t complain about being kept in your crate, it is in your best interest and is because your parents love you and want you to keep your leg.
