Update about Quibdo's situations 16/08/26
16 August 2026First of all, thank you to everyone who has joined this cause and given a little to help Quibdó. Every contribution will definitely make a difference, and I honestly cannot thank you enough for your generosity and support.
The plan is to keep collecting donations until 28/08. Once the funds are available on 25/09, I will transfer them to my brother in Colombia so he can use it to help as many affected families as possible.
As I post this update, we have raised NZD $1700, which is approximately COP $3100000. To put that into perspective, New Zealand's minimum hourly wage is NZD $23.95 ($14.04 USD), while Colombia's minimum hourly wage is approx COP $7295 ($1.77 USD). At around NZD $1 = COP $1850, your contributions go a long way in Colombia. What might feel like a small donation here can make a significant difference to someone in Quibdó.
At the moment, Quibdó and other affected areas are receiving a huge amount of support from different parts of Colombia and international organisations. It has been amazing to see the incredible solidarity and generosity shown over the past few days, and that includes every single one of you.
I have attached Quibdo's situation report from the morning of 15 August, I apologise for the poor translation of the images.
Thank you again for standing with my hometown, thank you for making us feel that Quibdó is not alone!
