Fund raising to meet the costs involved in opposing the proposed "Paewira Waste Incineration Plant" at Racecourse Rd in Te Awamutu.
Te Awamutu, Waikato
September 2023 saw the start of a large & increasing ground swell of concerned people from Te Awamutu / Waipa region, Waikato (plus NZ wide) who oppose "Waste Incineration".
A resource consent is lodged with Waipā District & Waikato Regional Council seeking approval to build an inceration facility in Te Awamutu.
Waipa District Council, likely due to distraction with other council matters & lack of experiential subject knowledge, remains neutral & does not publicly oppose this facility.
Large amounts of available scientific data & research (including similarly impacted communities globally) confirm "Waste Incineration Facilities" cause pollution that is dangerous to health & environment.
These plants expose businesses, farms & people, who live, work & study locally to 24/7 toxic ash & fumes (The resource application suggests 42kg/hr = 370 tons/yr) that cumulatively cause diseases. (respiratory issues, eye & skin irritations, cancer etc)
Waikato ground & waters will retain accumulating emission toxins at increasing levels, which impacts homes, gardens, farms, education & business. (Potentially, as experienced internationally, turning the surrounding area into a zone polluted with toxic elements (Lead / Mercury etc) & carcinogenic compounds (including dioxins & acidic compounds).
The plant will also produce over 150,000 of tons of CO2 annually, contributing to global warming, plus large quantities of halogen compounds, recognized contributors to ozone depletion.
Paying expenses related to the purpose of opposing the building of the proposed Waste to Energy Plant (Paewira) in Te Awamutu, Waipa, Waikato.
