On the basis of $8000 in the fund, we are starting the build because the government inspectors are coming next week.
Everyone is so excited, Nobody can quite believe it. John is already planning the opening celebrations in March which will include a trip for the Kibera Hamlets students to Migori, singing, dancing, acrobatics, parents, food and a soccer match between Kibera (primary) and Migori (highschool), with some ring-ins such as John, who played for Kenya, in the little kids team. There will be a girls' and a boys'match. I'm going to put my name down for assistant referee and whenever the big kids look like scoring I'll shout, Offside!
Of course, you are all invited.
Thank you so much for your support of the cause. I find myself with tears in my eyes most days at the kindness of friends, and strangers.
If I haven't thanked you personally, sorry. Some days the donations were coming in thick and fast and I lost track.
We are nearly there and still a month to go!
I'll post progress reports and photos when I get them.
Thanks again from all of us here.
