Michele has been doing a great job in protecting our local shorebirds and educating the community about them.

Michele has been doing a great job in campaigning to protect, and highlighting the beauty, importance, and threats to our local shorebirds. She has been doing this for years, all from her own time and finances. Organizing meetings with local authorities, doc, and others in an effort to protect our shorebirds for future generations.
She has watched and protected our Dotterels from Sandspit to Martins Bay and continues to collect data on our internationally flagged Godwits and our critically endangered Fairy Terns. She has fascinated us and taught us with her photos and wonderful stories about our incredible shorebirds which have been shared well outside our area.
She is also working on numerous other projects to help our precious shorebirds, this page is to help her continue as she has had no funding.
I met Michele through her efforts to protect endangered shore birds in Snells Beach, and realized just how much time and effort she is putting in, in addition to her own funds, with no expectation of reward beyond the hope of helping the birds.
The money will go towards replacing the money she has already spent on petrol, signage and other items and also to replace damaged camera equipment and fund further exciting projects for our shorebirds.
Halfway 31 December 2020
Dot and Donald’s (NZ Dotterels) chicks have been flagged and are just over halfway to fledgling. The other Dotterels are still here. Our visitors include a wrybill, godwits, a returning and growing group of Oystercatchers, a couple of fairy tern, and royal spoonbills among others.
Thank you so much! Michelle has been extremely busy working with council and others. It's nesting season again, the donation will be very helpful in the protection of the shore birds and community education efforts.
