Douglas the Golden Retriever

Douglas is an 11 month old Golden Retriever who has become a massive part of my life. Ever since i can remember, i have always wanted to get a golden retriever and name him Douglas - and here he is!

Approx 4 months ago, Douglas started to develop a slight limp on his back right leg. I took him to the vet to have this x-rayed and it came back as hip dysplasia. I was in shock, especially because i had never thought i would have a puppy with hip dysplasia. The vet explained to me that it was one of the worst hips he had seen in awhile. I have gone to 2 other vet specialists to get other opinions and each have confirmed the worst.

Douglas' hip is so far gone that he requires a hip replacement in order to give him the quality of life he deserves. He is not eligible for any preventable aids as these will not do any help to his condition.He is only 11 months and it breaks my heart to think that he cant run around like other puppies his age and that he only knows life as that with a broken hip.

So far, i have had vet bills amount to over 3.5k, of which are ongoing. The surgery itself is going to cost 7.5k and i have to travel for this as there are no vets who offer hip replacements in my city. His recovery will also have ongoing costs regarding joint supplements, specialised joint food and 6 weeks of hydrotherapy sessions to get him walking again. He will also have to be confined and need 24 hour care until his recovery time is finished.

Douglas is such a character and is full of life, i just want to see him enjoying his day-to-day life as a healthy and normal puppy/dog.

I have tried to gain help from the breeder i bought Douglas from, but they have made it clear they have no intention of supporting Douglas' cause.

I will immensely appreciate any donations, big or small, that i receive as Douglas is my dream fur baby and i will try anything and everything to save him. This is an incredibly tough time for Douglas and I, i just want to see him happy and running around. I dont want him to continue being in anymore pain.
