Supporting Kids mental health through Motorsport

Christchurch, Canterbury

Bohdi Motorsport Kids Collective is a non-profit initiative dedicated to empowering youth through motorsport-inspired experiences. Our mission is to help young people develop practical skills, build confidence, and take much-needed mental health breaks in a supportive, community-driven environment.

We offer hands-on learning opportunities where kids can explore interests like basic mechanics, teamwork, and event planning, while also gaining vital life and social skills. Through collective outings to car meets, motorsport events, and skill-building workshops, youth are encouraged to face obstacles head-on, build resilience, and form positive peer connections.

All outings include transport, tickets, food, and any necessary supplies—completely free of charge to the families involved. These experiences are made possible through private fundraising efforts and generous community support, ensuring every child has the chance to participate regardless of their background.

At Bohdi Motorsport Kids Collective, we believe in the power of passion, purpose, and community to shape strong, confident, and capable young people.

Bohdi Motorsport Kids Collective is a grassroots, non-profit initiative supporting Kids including neurodiverse and struggling children through motorsport-inspired experiences. Born from personal loss and the challenges of raising children with unique needs, we provide hands-on activities, social outings, and skill-building in a safe, inclusive environment.

About us   11 August 2025

Our Story

In 2020, Donnie and Chloe faced every parent’s worst nightmare—the loss of their precious son, Bohdi, to a rare and devastating brain malformation, with fewer than 10 known cases worldwide. The grief, trauma, and mental health toll were immense.

Out of this deep pain, Bohdi Motorsport was born—a legacy project to honour Bohdi’s memory and transform heartbreak into healing through community, connection, and purpose.

Now in 2025, Donnie and Chloe are parents to their bright, neurodiverse daughter Sophie (9), , they are raising an incredible child who faces daily challenges that most systems are not set up to support. Just like hundreds of other parents in north Canterbury

Despite their best efforts, both families have hit repeated roadblocks—with no funding allocated to support their children’s unique needs. Like many others, they are navigating the complex and frustrating world of personalised funding, where every opportunity must be privately sourced, fought for, or simply missed.

Bohdi Motorsport Kids Collective was created not only for Sophie and Hunter—but for every child like them. Every child whose neurodiversity is a strength, but whose needs are overlooked. Every parent who has been told “there’s no funding available.” Every family searching for hope, support, and a sense of belonging.

We know we are not alone—and we are here to make sure others know that, too.
