Help Dug access a specialist MRI to investigate the cause of his seizures and neurological symptoms and get the answers he deserves.
Mangawhai, Northland
This is Dug.
Dug is a happy, fun, slightly bonkers puppy who also unfortunately has seizures.
We originally fostered Dug through The Dog Rescue Project and quickly fell in love with him. After eight days with us, we told the rescue we wanted to adopt him.
On the night of day 9, he had a seizure.
At that point, the rescue still technically owned him, but we had already decided he was family. We could have walked away. We didn't.
Since then, we have discovered that Dug had experienced seizures before entering rescue, none of which were disclosed. Blood tests and other investigations have so far failed to provide any answers.
Dug is also showing some subtle neurological signs, including occasional weakness and delays in his hind end. Because of this, our vet and neurologist have recommended an MRI.
The good news is that Dug has now been seizure-free for several weeks on medication. The challenge is that we still don't know why. The medication may be working, or he may simply not have had another seizure yet.
The MRI and specialist investigations are expected to cost approximately $7,500. Thanks to the incredible support of The Dog Rescue Project, plus our friends and family, $2,134 has already been raised.
Unfortunately, insurance cannot help as his seizures are considered a pre-existing condition.
If you can donate, thank you. If you can share, thank you. Both will help us get Dug the answers he deserves. ❤️
Funds will go directly towards Dug's MRI, specialist neurology consultations, anaesthesia, diagnostic testing and associated veterinary costs to investigate the cause of his seizures and neurological symptoms and determine the best treatment plan.
