Lets help Dwight represent Fiordland, Southland and NZ with his selection for the Athletics NZ team
Southland
Recently Fiordland and Southland runner Dwight Grieve managed the honor of being selected by Athletics New Zealand for the New Zealand team to compete at The World Mountain Running Champs in Andorra on the 16th September 2018.
Dwight is an enthusiastic runner that wears the Fiordland and Southland singlet with pride – where ever he goes people know he is there and where he comes from.
The cost of the event itself is estimated by Athletics NZ at $6000 and on top of that general costs for training etc that will be close to $1000 – Dwight trains about 95-110km per week, shoes @ $230 - $250 a pair last about 500 – 600km
This page is to ask for some help to make the trip less of a burden on Dwight and his family, they have made the decision to up their mortgage to make sure this dream opportunity is not missed, but Dwight doesn’t want to work until 70, apparently many drivers on the Milford Road would also like him to move on sooner than later LOL – for those scratching their heads Dwight is also a local Policeman based in Te Anau and often appears on the TVNZ programme Highway Cops.
Dwight also wishes this to be a hand up and not a hand out – anyone at all that wishes to have a go at athletics or even fitness for life or base training for any other sport, please contact him or the Fiordland athletics club, he is more than happy to help out as he can.
Any support is appreciated – thank you
My husband has just been selected for the NZ Mountain running team - I want to help him raise money to attend while at the same time take some of the burden off the family to do so
Athletics New Zealand estimate the cost of the event at $6000, this includes airfares, food, accommodation, transfers, uniform etc. On top of that Dwight has constant costs for training, shoes etc that will cost around $1000+ just for this event alone
