This page is to raise funds for the recovery effort after the 7.8 earthquake in Ecuador on the 16th April.
International
We are a group of 10 New Zealand 18 year old's currently volunteering in Cuenca, Ecuador for six months. We have created this page in order to give New Zealanders a chance to directly support Ecuador in the aftermath of the deadly quake. The funds will be used to buy food, purified water and medicines that will then be driven north in trucks to towns that have been badly damaged by the earthquake.
We have been living in Ecuador since early February of this year, and have experienced the kindness and generosity of the Ecuadorian people, from the people we work with, to the families we have been living with. We see this as an opportunity to give back during this tough time in Ecuador.
80 orphans arriving in Cuenca 21 April 2016
Today a group of eighty 3 to 12 year olds who have recently lost their parents in the earthquake are arriving in Cuenca (the city we're living in) from Manta, a town in the North of Ecuador that has been almost completely destroyed by the earthquake. Our need for funds has now become much more urgent as these kids were not able to bring any possessions with them. In the next few days we need to buy clothes, toys, books etc to help them as they start their new lives in Cuenca
