Edit and Gabor: a love story

Edit and Gabor have known each other as kids growing up in Hungary. It was only recently that the romance was able to blossom after Gabor, a New Zealand citizen returned to Hungry to be there for his Mother’s brain tumour surgery.

Edit and Gabor reconnected and realized the connection was still there and strong as ever and the planning of how they could be together with Edit’s 2 children started to unfold

Gabor had to return to New Zealand, his now home and Edit came for a visit in 2016 and saw how wonderful this country is and how she would love to move with her 2 boys and see if life in New Zealand with Gabor by her side, would work.

Edit and the boys arrived in Sept 2017 after a successful visa application, Edit was able to move to New Zealand and start her new life with Gabor. The boys started school, and Edit worked on improving her English to help find a job. She was a qualified account in Hungary

Life was an adjustment, but the New Zealand lifestyle and Gabor’s support and love was working. Life was good, happy and exciting and a good family life had begun…something that was lacking for Edit in Hungary.

Edit was at home alone, kids at school, Gabor at his job and Edit felt terrible….really sick. She went to the hospital in Blenheim and was quickly transported to Nelson Hospital by helicopter with the news of a blocked left kidney. She would need immediate surgery!

This is a difficult situation; no health insurance coverage and no time for Edit to get back to Hungary. Who would ever imagine something like this; especially while everything seems to be going so well!

The good news is Edit has totally recovered after another surgery. The bad news is the great big , unexpected hospital bill. Edit and Gabor have lots of plans for their life together in Blenheim but the added expense of $ 23,000 in unexpected costs has added a new element to the relationship.
