The final fee payment for Term 3 has been paid! Further donations will go towards next years fees for Manu's course in Electrical Engineering at Vanuatu Institute of Technology.
The fundraiser held in Mele in May was put towards the final payment of Term 1 fees.
On the 11 May 2019, a community fundraiser was organised by Manu's extended family. Traditional Mele tuluk, baked goods and hot food were sold. A total of VUV 21,000 (NZD 275.81) was raised. Well done to everyone who got involved in the charity drive!
Whilst in New Zealand on an Easter holiday break, some new and some second hand educational resources were bought for Manu to prepare for his final examinations in November.
Vt160,010 was paid on Monday 25 February which included the items highlighted in pink marker. The remaining fees will be paid over the year ahead. Vt64,250.00 is still owing on Term 1.
We are pleased to report that a lump sum payment has been made to Onesua Presbyterian College for Manu. This money was used to clear the unpaid fees from 2017 and reinrolment into the school in February. Thank you to all those donors who have made this possible!
After having a good first week back at college, Manu is playing 9-aside men's rugby for the Mele Eels this afternoon at Independence Park. This is the first game of the season. We wish him a great game!
Due to an account not being registered in Diana Loubser's name, the funds will be paid into an account under the name of David Ian Loubser of which Diana Loubser is a signatory.
Vanuatu has been affected by a CAT 2 tropical cyclone in the northern provinces. North Efate` where Manu attends college is being battered by heavy winds and rain, but he has arrived safely.
Today we went into Port Vila to buy boarding house supplies, personal items and stationery for the start of the academic year. Manu's family have decided to wait until Sunday after church to take him back to school as there is a lot of cyclone activity (heavy rain and wind) predicted for this week.
Great news received today that Manu has a place in Year 13 Science class. We are all excited and will spend tomorrow buying stationery, boarding house requirements and extra uniform.
I have been in direct contact with the Principal of the college, Mr Graham Kalmar. A final decision will be made on Wednesday 13 February about a place in the Year 13 Science class for Manu. The administration staff seem confident that it will just be a formality. Transfer fees and the Caution fee will then be paid together with outstanding fees from 2017.
Success! The school has confirmed Manu has a place and he can begin Year 13 on Wednesday 13 February. So exciting. Tomorrow will be spent getting stationery and extra school uniform.
