Facing deportation, Lucia needs your support to stay and finish her urban planning degree.
Wellington
Imagine trying to build a new life in a country where even the language is different, driven by the dream of contributing to its future. My name is Lucia Olivero, and I'm from Venezuela—a country that has endured over 20 years of dictatorship. In pursuit of a better life, I came to New Zealand and am studying to become an urban planner. This isn’t just a personal goal—it’s my only path to staying in a free country and making a positive impact on the community that now feels like my second home.
Unfortunately, due to financial challenges, my student visa was recently rejected because I don’t have the funds to cover my 2025 tuition fees in advance. Despite having already paid over 46,000 NZD in international fees for 2024, immigration requires that I pay next year's fees upfront to extend my visa. Without this extension, I’m at risk of deportation, which would mean leaving behind everything I’ve worked for and facing an uncertain future back home.
This is why I’m reaching out for help. Every contribution, big or small, goes directly toward my tuition, allowing me to stay in New Zealand, complete my studies, and contribute back to the country that has given me the chance to pursue a brighter future in urban planning.
By donating, you’re not just supporting my education—you’re giving me the chance to build a stable, meaningful future. Thank you for considering my story and for any support you can provide. :)
The funds will be used to pay my 2025 international tuition fees, allowing me to extend my student visa and complete my urban planning degree in New Zealand even if I do not reach the goal.
