Help us support Te Ohorere return to College.
Taranaki
Both of us are working three jobs to support our boys at boarding school as this is where they are able to be educated in an environment that has strict rules and regulations around education and living. Earlier this year Te Ohorere was stood down from returning back to school in the hostel for five weeks as we have fallen behind in the required hostel fees. During this time we saw the true effect on Te Ohorere as we were unsure at that time if he was going to return due to the cost. He became withdrawn from us as parents and suffered from depression. He wasn’t interested in attending another school his response was if he could go back to Hato Paora College he was going to find a job. Which has us concerned as parents. If Te Ohorere was not to return to school Hato Paora next year, this would have a major impact on his learning. It would be overwhelming for him and he would struggle to adapt to being a day student at a mainstream school. He is well settled at Hato Paora and the routines of boarding school life which helps him to continue to make good choices in everyday living. Being a small school he has the people around him to support him with living skills, education and also understanding of his emotional needs. We haven't been able to seek funding to support him as we have found this very difficult as he is legal not our son.
I'm am supporting this cause as I know how hard Te Ohorere as work to achieve great results he deserves to return and finish his last 2 final years at a College that he has chosen to attend for the betterment of his own future. Unfortunately the cost and lack of funding support has been a struggle to beable to get on top of the required fees.
