I just really wanted to say thank you again before this page finishes up. Hopefully I'll be able to say thank you to a lot of you in person before the year is out.

I just can't explain how much this means to me and my family and the support I have gotten. Thankful, I appear to be recovering quite well, its just going to take time.

Thank you to everyone who contributed and your kind words, I am home now but will be off work for a while and need time to recover. I am incredibly thankful to the players on the field from both Eastbourne and Western Suburbs! They looked after me and called the Ambulance straight away. Ambulance staff where amazing, even if the ride around the bays with lights on made me feel sick, they got me to Hutt Hospital quickly.

The ER room and doctors had been called ahead and were prepared for my arrival, rushing me in for a CT Scan and then giving me medication before I got moved to ICU.

I say all this because I truly believe thanks to the quick thinking of the players, call ahead from ambulance and treatment at the hospital, I'm at a much better place today and already on the road to recovery. That has made all the difference and I'm so thankful for it.

The messages I've received from the footballing community have been really touching and I'm proud to be a part of it, here is hoping it isn't too long before I'm out there in the middle again.

    Thanks

Matt, Lisa and the Weldon-Smith family
