Elderly Couple in a Horrible Living Situation

$423 of $200,000 goal
Given by 11 generous donors in around 3 months

A heartfelt campaign to rebuild a safe, warm home for an elderly couple living in heartbreaking and dangerous conditions.

Taumarunui, Manawatu-Wanganui

We're reaching out on behalf of a kind-hearted elderly couple, whose current living conditions are heartbreaking and unsafe, their home is no longer a place of comfort, but one of deep concern.

The house is in an advanced state of disrepair. The walls and ceilings are riddled with holes, some opening directly to the outdoors. There are severe infestations, with signs of rats throughout the home. The smell and visible damage are overwhelming with droppings, nests, and structural decay making it nearly unlivable.

Though we were able to provide a hot water cylinder not long ago, even that is under threat, as the weight is causing the rotting floor beneath it to collapse. The home is cold, damp, and deteriorating rapidly. It's not just unsafe, it's dangerous.

This couple has given so much to others in their lives, and now they need a village behind them.

The reality is, this house cannot be patched up, it needs to be completely demolished.

We are humbly asking for your help. Every dollar donated will go directly toward creating a clean, secure, and livable space for them to finally rest in comfort and dignity in a safe, warm, and healthy home.

Thank you for your compassion and support.

We lovingly call them Grandma and Grandpa as they’ve been a part of our family for years, ever since my mum adopted them as her parents, and they've played a special role in all our lives, including our children’s, sharing stories and love.
