The unknown at present is what ACC can commit too in support of medical requirements & the desire to build a self contained unit for Ellie

Canterbury

On the 3rd of January 2019 Ellie age 16 had a tragic accident on a horse. She was riding track work following her dream of wanting to become a jockey when things took a turn for the worst and Ellie was left with a broken back in 3 places and a severed Spinal Cord which left her paralyzed from the chest down. After 2 weeks in ICU she had an operation on her back and one for a collapsed lung. Once recovered enough she was transferred to Burwood spinal unit where Ellie is starting her new journey. At this time Ellie is currently under going physio therapy so that she is able to return home to her family and friends (things we all take for granted on a daily basis). This family’s life has now completely changed forever. Spending all day and night by their girls side while also trying to keep life as normal as possible for their youngest daughter, The last thing on their minds has been money, but unfortunately it’s going to be a huge factor in their new life. We want to help take away at least a small bit of that stress for them. Ellie is the most loving kind and beautiful young girl and she has been an absolute trooper. Any help would be so hugely appreciated.

A message from Ellie  6 May 2019

Hi everyone, firstly and foremost my family and I would like to thankyou from the bottom of our hearts 💕 for all the support everyone has shown us with kind words and generous donations.

This is a big week coming up as I am finally leaving Burwood hospital after 4 months (horay,) although I will miss some amazing people there, that have been involved in helping me on my journey.

I have passed my driving test so am hoping that on Wednesday I will be able to drive my self home 🏠.

Thankyou everyone

Ellie xxx
