Elvis’s Path to Top Surgery!

I’m Elvis Booth-Claveria and I’m a 24 year old trans guy asking for some help to access top surgery (Double Mastectomy)a life affirming surgery that would enable me to live more comfortably and safely.

I’ve been socially and medically transitioning for 4.5 years and during that tying to find a way to access this surgery and to be completely honest it’s felt impossible more time than not, but I’ve come to a point where it’s becoming hard to look into the future past this very core discomfort/distraction. Chest binding for me is an every 3 day ordeal of reapplying sports tape the physical and mental stress of this is frustrating on a good day and entirely exhausting on bad day.

The surgery in New Zealand isn’t publicly funded in most DHB’s (I know there’s plenty of other things that should be that aren’t too ) and where it is funded there are waiting lists 5-10 years long. So going through a private surgeon is really the only option. I’m currently in the consultation process for either Dr Rita Yang or Dr Chris Porter and it’s looking like $25,000-$30,000.

I’m also looking to host fundraiser events (a gig and maybe an art sale) throughout the next year to contribute so if you’re interested in donating a set or a work that would also be incredible.

I understand that finances are really tough for a lot of people so there’s no pressure for anything large or anything at all, but if you’re able to get me an inch closer I’ll be forever grateful and a step closer 💗
