Please help us raise funds for Elyse's medical bills so she can live a better quality life, so far denied to her from this accident.
Auckland
20 years ago Elyse was a passenger in a car accident that caused significant damage to her face. She was only 16 years old at the time.
Her right cheek and jaw were shattered by the bonnet of the car coming through the windscreen into her. As well as having her face reconstructed with metal plates, her mouth was wired shut after the accident as it knocked her teeth out and loose. However ACC have never accepted responsibility for the surgeries required to fix her teeth.
Over the years she has struggled with pain in her mouth, but countless dentists and doctors and, hospitals have told her it's just "chronic pain" and to live with it. She has been let down by ACC multiple times and as she had grown into her adult years, the repercussions of this have caused her conditions (directly caused by the accident) to deteriorate so badly, she is unable to live a normal life without pain.
Over the last year, her pain has been extreme, to the point that some days she cannot get out of bed, she cannot parent, she cannot be a human. There have been so many trips to the hospital in the last 15 months and every time came out with a new prescription but no solution.
Now we know she has advanced periodontal disease, and have found a dentist that is willing to help and fight for her. They have gone to ACC and secured some funding however there is a shortfall which Elyse needs to come up with funds for herself. (Picture attached in gallery)
She is booked in to start on Monday 21/02 and needs some help to pay for what ACC still won't cover. We just need her to get the surgeries urgently now. So we ask for any donation, big or small to help cover the extra cost.
She asks for your help at this time to finally make some progress and begin to live again.
