Emilia's right frontal lobe grade 4 bleed

Auckland

Emilia was born on the 9th of September pre-maturly at 32 weeks. Mum Nicole's water broke unexpectedly at 3 am, after being in very prolonged labour for 61 hours.

She was immediately transfered to the SCBU where she had to be resusitated for 2 min. Her total stay in hospital was 42 days and suffered the following :

2 min resuscitation

Frontal grade 4 brain bleed

Respitory distress syndrome

Low birth weight

Jaundice x6

Hypoglycemia

Emilia was placed on oxygen full time , she is now 5 months old weighing only 5kg and is still on oxygen full time. The doctors say her lungs are clear and that her oxygen intake is caused by the bleed in her brain.

She was has had a cerebral palsy assessment done on Monday the 5th of February that we are still waiting on results for.

She is the friendliest , happiest little girl.. and deserves so much better then this.

Still a long way to go  19 February 2024

Emilia is still on oxygen full time. She has started taking swimming lessons to strengthen her lungs. It was $300 just for 13 lessons. She absolutely loves the water.
