Emily Tomooka is raising money to support those who are affected by cancer, and to try and aid cancer research.
Otago
Hi everyone,
My name is Emily Tomooka and I would like to do this donation because cancer is a way of effecting a family household in a negative way. Most of my grandparents have had cancer, and I would like to give back to the community after all of the support that all of my grandparents and my family received, and also I know a lot of people who are currently battling with cancer, so I would like to help them by doing a donation.
50 % of this donation will be used for New Zealand Cancer Research, https://www.cancerresearchtrustnz.org.nz/, 10 % will go towards nurses to provide essential support to their patients, https://auckland-northland.cancernz.org.nz/how-to-get-involved/make-a-donation/our-appeals/, and the remaining 40% will go to patient support and information, accommodation, research and health promotion (https://otago-southland.cancernz.org.nz/how-to-get-involved/ways-to-donate/donate-now/).
Every dollar/cent will go to these organisations, and I chose these organisations because, in my experience, these are the most effective ways to help the cancer society. By giving 50% to the cancer research, it could mean that, in the future, there could be a decrease in people who get cancer, and the risk of lives.
Myself, and 3 of my teachers at Bayfield High School, will be shaving our heads as a part of this fundraising effort.
Thanks,
Emily
I am a teacher at Bayfield High school and I have taught Emily in the past. I helped Emily set this up because I think her fundraising efforts are amazing and this should help her raise even more.
50% to cancer research, 40% to patient support, and 10% towards nurses.
