Help me to be able to attend the opportunity of a lifetime - the Youth United Nations Global Development Tour 2020.

Auckland

Hello friends, family, teachers, and generous strangers. My name is Emily Gossen, and I am a year 13 student attending Lynfield College in West Auckland. I am aspiring to study Medicine in the future, and make an impact on the wellbeing of my community.

I am thrilled to have been selected as one of the 22 delegates from across New Zealand for the Youth United Nations Global Development Tour for 2020. This is an opportunity I would've never fathomed being able to take part in, and is an educational experience I'll take away from for life.

The tour will embark on a journey across North America and Europe - New York, San Francisco, London, Paris, Berlin, Vienna and Rome. We will visit these cities as they are of significance to the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs). The sustainable development goals are 17 global goals set around tackling issues such as poverty, world hunger, health and wellbeing, the environment, and equality.

The tour will comprise of meetings with diplomats/embassies, businesses/NGOs, and places of historical significance. I will also have the privilege of attending Columbia Model United Nations and Exposition (CMUNCE), an enriching experience that brings together students from around the world. I will be busy the next couple months preparing for the conference so I can get the most out of it.

This opportunity will be nothing short of life-changing. However with such opportunity comes a hefty cost of $8,250, which I cannot raise alone without a little bit of help. I would be so grateful for any donations towards costs for an experience of a lifetime. Thank you for reading!

Use of funds

The generous donations I receive will go towards my delegate fee of $8,250 - covering all flights, accomodation, educational activities and most main meals. Even if I don't reach my goal, any funds donated will be put towards my costs.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
