To help John and Emma make wonderful memories and now to assist with the cost of life extending medication .
Canterbury
Nigel is Emmas Dad ,John is her husband ,and I am Marlene, Nigels wife. Emma and John found out a week ago he has stage 4 terminal lung cancer at the age of 45 .They have 2 daughters aged 14 and 17 ,beautiful bright young girls preparing to move out into the world . Johns prognosis is 12 months maybe more with medication . I would love to afford to give them enough to go places in NZ and make wonderful memories while John is still feeling good enough to enjoy .I have seen some wonderful off the track places that people are advertising right now and would love them be able to take time for each other with and without the girls. Emma and John lost their business in the economic downturn 2 years ago and had to sell their beautiful forever home .They have just recently moved into another house and have now met with the worst news of all .I know there are people much worse off than them, we cant help others, but we would like to try to help them ,and we ourselves are not able to help because we lost our all in the GFC, and Nigel has a major battle of his own with a rare hideous blood cancer , we have nothing much ,and share my sisters home, so the only real help we can give is our love and support and anything people may want to contribute to help them make wonderful memories ,it doesn't always have to be money. Now to add to their problems the medication that may give John a longer life expectancy ,from months to maybe 5 years is at a cost of $81k ,they have got medical insurance to $31k but need $51k to meet the costs, as seems to be the way in NZ right now .
We are Father and stepmother to the two people we wish to help.
Paying for travel and accommodation to some of these hideaways that you never get the chance to see normally to make new memories . Any surplus would go to assist Emma and John in paying for the girls Tertiary education
John Garvey sadly has passed. 12 April 2021
Dear John lost his fight with lung cancer in early March. He fought an extremely brave battle and when the Doctors ran out of options he went off all the debilitating meds and had some wonderful times on holiday with his wife Emma ,daughters Jazz and Jade and all his extended family feeling like himself and able to enjoy every bit of life he had left. He has left a devastated family and friends that will take some time to heal. We want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who donated ,John answered everyone and he was very humbled by the generosity ,please know it helped them immensely and made great memories .Thank you
