Change a Life, Change the World! Im heading on an expedition to Borneo to Grow my own Leadership skills while developing a 3rd world nation.

In Mid-December of this year, I will be embarking on a 4 week journey, along with fourteen other Year 11 & 12 girls from my High School, partaking in a World Challenge Expedition through Borneo.
The purpose of a World Challenge Expeditions is to “Change Your Life, Change the World”. The expeditions are designed to Challenge our Thinking as Individuals, Grow our Leadership Abilities, and Make a Lasting Difference to a Third World or Developing Nation while we are in their country.
I am excited by the opportunity that Borneo presents me to learn a lot more about my own abilities, whilst assisting a local village in the Mt Kinabalu region to improve their facilities through our week long volunteer project, and hopefully also assist with some of the wildlife in the region, such as the Orang-utans’ who are progressively losing their home habitat with the felling of rainforests to create Palm Oil plantations.
Other than our flights and the first nights’ accommodation when we arrive, as a group we have had to plan the entire expedition, sourcing food, shelter, transport, and all local travel plans. No taxis and hotels for us, its trekking and jungle shelters (hammocks in the tree’s!) which not only keeps our costs down, but also challenges us mentally & physically to plan for all eventualities, cope with difficult circumstances, work as a team, and grow ourselves through experiences.
To enable me to complete my expedition I have to fundraise $8000.00 by the end of September. Through my own efforts (working, carwash’s, sausage sizzles, assisting others) I have already managed to raise $4050. I will continue to work hard towards my goal, but am also at that point where I am needing to look for a little bit of assistance to get to my final target.
I realise that particularly in today’s day and age there are regular requests for Sponsorship or Donations, however I would be most grateful if there was any opportunity for you to consider assisting me to meet my fundraising targets. Any donation, no matter how big or small, would be gratefully appreciated.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and consider my request, I know your time is valuable and I do appreciate it.
I am one of 15 girls who have been accepted onto this trip to Borneo. I am actively involved in the planning, and am excited by the opportunity that is ahead of me.
Thank you so much, I really appreciate it!
