Hi there, I have had an idea banging around for a couple of years, which has now become a burning desire. Imagine being a ten-year-old boy and coming to class but instead of sitting at a standard school desk… you get to sit on a real motorcycle with a perspex work-top attached to the top of it!
I am the teacher of twenty Year 6 (10 and 11-year-old) boys... and I am passionate about motorcycles. Our school is located in Auckland and every single boy at the school is on a scholarship and every boy boards at the school.

The idea is each boy gets a day to do their work on the motorbike. Each year, one of the highlights for my class has been when I teach them about the internal combustion engine and bring my motorbike in for them as an example. They absolutely love sitting on it, so I thought how cool would it be to be able to do that all the time for the boys.
My principal is supportive but can’t spare the funds needed. I have been looking for cheap bikes on Trademe for 3 months now with no luck. As you know, bikes tend to get parted out and even damaged ones are expensive for me.
Whilst I am fundraising for this in my classroom, this has not been endorsed in any way as an official fundraising event by the school or Trust board.
Any help you can give to help me turn my idea into a reality for the boys would be gratefully received.

With your help, I’d like to get a second-hand motorcycle (maybe even running if we’re lucky) that I can turn into a desk for my boys. Any surplus would either improve the bike or be put towards another motorcycle for a different class.
Thanks so much Tim. I'm so excited. I think the boys will love it.
