I’ve been selected to represent NZ at The Hague International Model United Nations, but need a hand getting there! Help me represent NZ!
Canterbury
At the conclusion of New Zealand Model United Nations this year I was selected to be a part of the annual NZ Schools delegation to THIMUN – The Hague International Model United Nations – in January next year. This is a huge honour, not only because it’s highly competitive, but because it is a unique opportunity to represent New Zealand on a global stage. THIMUN is a chance for aspiring leaders from all around the world to come together, share ideas and learn how to approach solutions to worldwide issues.
Prior to the International Model United Nations conference itself, the delegation embarks on a three week study tour around New York, Geneva, Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and Vienna. We’ll be meeting foreign affairs officials, even possibly Helen Clark (!), and visiting embassies in order to deepen our understanding of the United Nations’ role in moderating conflict and facilitating international collaboration. Alongside lifelong friendships, from this trip I hope to attain a deeper understanding of New Zealand’s role in the international community as well as the ways youth can come together to make a difference to our future.
As you can imagine, a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity like this comes at a price. The overall cost is budgeted at $8000, though it may be more. With University also coming up next year, funds are stretched! I am working hard and fundraising to achieve this goal but I am hoping you can give me a hand too. Give a little (or a lot!), every donation means so much to me. Thank you so much for your support, I promise to make you all – and New Zealand – proud!
Thank you so much,
Esme
