Your donations will be used for renovations to our home so hopefully we can keep living there if Esra's health continues to deteriorate.
Southland
Esra's 2018 was a downhill slide health wise. A year that started with motorbiking from southland to Christchurch on his GN125 for a family holiday ended with falling over so much his bruises never had time to heal. This has resulted in Esra using a wheelchair to prevent falls.
Some days when people visit they wouldn't realise anything is wrong. The unseen part of Esra's life is fatigue. He requires help with showering so that he has enough energy to function the rest of the day. He can cook a simple meal (such as a poached egg and toast) but others will clean up because he has such little energy left after cooking. probably the most demeaning thing for Esra is that sometimes he needs pushed just to return from a toilet stop
We have had no definate answer from health professionals as to the reason for the falls. Their best guess is a progression of fibro muscular dysplasia, the chronic illness he was diagnosed with 10 years ago. This means we also have no idea how long Esra will be dealing with the level of pain, fatigue and weakness he faces daily.
We have been staying with his parents because our house is not wheelchair friendly. We hugely appreciate their help but want to be home. To be our own little family again. We need to renovate our bathroom to make this possible. If there is enough $ left we would also like to put a concrete path along the edge of our driveway so Esra can get to the mail box, garage, shed and road side without bumping over painful stones.
We expect all these changes to cost over approximately $25 000
We want the opportunity to try living in our home and continuing our dream of running a petting farm for children, families and tourists in our community. But are aware that even with the alterations it may be too difficult for Esra. Because of this we want our supporters to be aware that even after the alterations are done we still may have to shift.
Renovations to makeep bathroom wheelchair accessible is our first priority.
If there is enough money left after that we will put in a concrete path by our driveway to make access easier for Esra.
We are home!!! 19 April 2019
HI all our amazing supporters!
I have miraculous news. After 2 weeks of hard work at the rehab unit in Dunedin, Esra is walking, even able to run short distances. His wheelchair has been returned and he doesn't require the wet floor shower any longer!!
We arrived home today. So so grateful and aware there's still hard work to be done. But so so greatful to have our life back!!
We are still going to do the bathroom renovations because it will improve the space anyway. But if u want your $ back or u want us to give it to someone else we understand. Please let us know
Thank you so much!
