Please join us in ensuring the safety of my mum and dad—your support makes all the difference!
Tauranga, Bay Of Plenty
My name is Maher. I’m from Gaza and I live in New Zealand with my Kiwi wife, Tessa.
We humbly ask for your help to evacuate my elderly parents, Riad (70) and Aisha (67), from Gaza.
They're the rock of our family and have given tirelessly to raise their 10 children and 27 grandchildren. Having already lost several family members during the recent attacks, including my aunt, her husband, her 4 grandchildren, and 2 of my cousins, our family can't bear the thought of risking my parents' lives any longer.
My parents are facing a harsh winter in a makeshift tent, alongside the rest of our family. The home they shared with my 5 brothers and their families was destroyed early on in the recent attacks.
With the lack of access to food, clean water, and medical care, and the rapid spread of diseases, plus the ongoing attacks, we are desperate to get my parents out of Gaza before it’s too late.
We are a close-knit family, and although my parents would rather stay in Gaza to support the rest of our family members, we all want to ensure they are safe and well, so they can spend many more years with us. Bringing them to New Zealand will be the first time I have seen them in over a year, and the first time for Tessa to meet her mother and father-in-law.
Your generous contribution will make a huge difference in bringing our parents to safety. We can't do this without you. Let's show them the love and support they deserve.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, Maher & Tessa

Reopening the Page: We’re Nearly at 70% 4 September 2024
Kia ora everyone,
The page was briefly closed for a few days, but we’ve decided to reopen it so we can keep pushing towards our goal. We’ve raised almost 70% of our target so far, and that’s all thanks to your incredible support!
We’ve been able to renew Riad and Aisha's passports, and their New Zealand Visas will be submitted very soon. With your help, we even managed to get them registered on the Rafah crossing lists. Unfortunately, the crossing was taken over and closed before they could make it out.
We're now just waiting for Rafah crossing to reopen—Riad and Aisha will be among the first to leave Gaza once it does.
We truly appreciate all the support so far. Please continue to spread the word.
Let's keep the momentum going until we reach our target and get our whānau out of this misery.
Ngā mihi nui,
Maher & Tessa
