Eve needs a new Cochlear Implant

$503 donated

Eve is profoundly deaf and needs a new cochlear implant to improve her ability to hear at school and communicate.

Canterbury

Eve is 9 years old. She was born prematurely at 24 weeks, weighing 700 grams. Despite numerous developmental difficulties she has grown strong, clever and very cheeky. She enjoys school and swimming, drama classes, has competed at judo and learns the violin with her brother. Eve has a cochlear implant that gives her limited access to sound. At 9 years of age she is too old to receive government funding for a 2nd implant, so we have to raise the $45000 needed. Another cochlear implant will improve Eve's ability to learn at school, communicate with others and give her a sense of the direction of sounds.
