Every Day Counts - Support Brooke's Fight for Time with Cayden

Brooke was diagnosed with papillary thyroid carcinoma in October 2020, in South Africa. She underwent surgery and extensive treatment, including two years of chemotherapy. Sadly in 2023, she was told her cancer was terminal.

With few options left in South Africa's healthcare system, Brooke's dad, who lives in New Zealand, asked her to come here to have her family around her for support. In early 2023, Brooke travelled back to South Africa for treatment. When she returned to NZ, severe pneumonia stopped her being able to fly at all. In late 2023, Brooke had a stint in hospice not long after she and her husband Ravall got their son Cayden settled into school here.

Against the odds, Brooke came out of hospice. She's now living with a Porta-Cath that has dislodged from her heart into her lung. She requires urgent surgery after complaining for months of breathlessness and being dismissed. She can no longer fly and is in New Zealand on a visa with exception to die.

Brooke is one of the bravest people we know. She has approached this with humour, humility, and a desire to have as much fun as possible with Ravall, Cayden, and her friends while she can.

This fund will help cover her medical and care costs in New Zealand, so money is one less thing the family has to fight through. Her operation will cost upwards of $60,000, with each day in hospital costing $3,000. Every donation, big or small, goes directly toward Brooke's care.
