Together we can upgrade the school hall/library/community hub
Nationwide
I’ve had the most challenging yet rewarding experience of living on a remote island in Fiji and teaching in the local primary school. It has reminded me of how fortunate we all are to be living in New Zealand - to have access to clean drinking water, to be able to eat fruit, vegetables, and protein, to wear clothing that fits us and is not damaged, to have access to good quality education and healthcare, I could go on!!!
In June 2023 I will be going back to Namamanuca Primary school and would like to do my part to provide some of the basic necessities to the wonderful people of Yanuya village. With funds raised I hope to fund the materials required for the refurbishment of the school hall (also used as a library, "media centre", and main community hub).
If you are able to buy yourself a coffee today, you are able to support this cause. Every dollar will make a difference to a child’s life.
I had the privilege of living in the community and teaching within the school. I was able to experience the daily struggles of life on a remote island. It doesn’t take much to change a child’s life. Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
With funds raised I will fund the installment of a water tank for the school, as the island relies solely on rain water.

Vinaka vaka levu (thank you very much)!!
We managed to raise a total of $6654 Fijian dollars for the wonderful people of Namamanuca Primary School. This is going towards the school hall; soon-to-be school hall, library, media centre, and wet-day play area for the students. This money has purchased a large rug, shutters to replace damaged/missing shutters, blinds for sun and security, railings for the outside veranda, paint, and tiles for the school office.
Myself and my family presented this to the headmaster in a full school assembly last week when we visited the island - and they were so appreciative! We were welcomed so warmly onto the island - handmade lei necklaces, a kava ceremony, singing and dancing from the students, a tour around the school, meeting the chief's representative, and having a tour around the village. It was so special to return back and see so many familiar smiling faces and knowing we were making a positive change in their lives.
