Fundraising page to help me get over the hurdle to purchase a few hectares of rural land where the duck rescue can be located.

Mallards & Paradise Ducks are not considered domestic pets so are outside the scope of the SPCA. They are also not considered poultry or farm animals and are outside the scope of MPI. DOC are funded only to rescue native and endangered species and again, Mallards & Paradise ducks fall outside this scope for rescue.
However for a mallard or paradise duck, just because she is not endangered, or poultry, or a domestic pet, does not make her pain and suffering any less. When a duck is injured or killed in horrific ways (ie losing legs, wings, part of, or an entire beak), being a mallard or 'Parrie', doesn't make the fear and terror any less for her ducklings who are suddenly alone, in a world where they cannot possibly even survive 24 hours, and I am sure for those tiny little ducklings, when night falls and they are huddling in terror wondering whether they will die from cold or from being eaten alive (because it absolutely will be one or the other) they are not thinking how great it is they are not endangered!
To some people, the suffering of a single mallard or paradise duck or duckling might be nothing. I rescue, because to that one duck, it is EVERYTHING.
I have been saving to buy some land however the contract job market I work in has fallen flat this year and the money I have saved is not enough to buy the land we desperately need.
Please donate and help us buy that land. I am happy to provide evidence on a confidential basis to any donors who request this.
Add to funds I have personally saved, to purchase rural land suitable to provide a sanctuary for ducks, and for me to live on (because it is not possible to care for a large number of ducks and live off site). We need at least 2 hct rural bare land.
Rental land is great, but there is so much more we can do with our own land 22 May 2024
This is Myelin, he's recently received a very generous donation of his own purpose built wheelchair. Myelin has an incurable balance problem, which means he cannot stand or walk as his brain doesn't figure out his balance like every other ducks brain does.
His new wheelchair is amazing and he can do more than I thought he would be able to, on bumpy rural land. However what he needs is a nice smooth patch of well trimmed grass on properly flattened lawn. While we have a great landlord and are lucky to have the rental property we have now, it isn't financially feasible (or allowed in the tenancy agreement) to invest the time and money in creating the smooth area Myelin needs to be able to use his wheelchair completely independently.
One project I would love to build on our own land, is a smooth outdoor area, without any lumps and bumps, for Myelin to be able to walk and run about without needing any help from me.
