Please help us while Evie-Rose is in for her last surgery in 2 weeks.
Manawatu / Whanganui
We were so excited when we found out we were pregnant for the first time. The feeling is so unreal to watch as your partner gets bigger and bigger, to be able to go to all the scans and see your little fetus turn into something real.
We knew that there was going to be a complication with her kidney from the get go, we had planned for a scan in Wellington to judge the severity of it. But of course she was having none of that.
Evie-Rose Annabelle Adams was born 5 weeks early on the 16th of June 2017 In Palmerston North. She Looked as healthy as could be, until they did their initial check. She was missing her bum hole!! What in the world? No bum? How is this even a thing?
Evie was flown to Wellington Hospital ahead of us, as my partner still needed to get discharged. We drove down a few hours later. They had done more thorough checks/assessments. Her kidney was no longer the main priority.
Second day of being with us she was taken into surgery to give her the means to poo, she gained a Colostomy bag and a 13 day stay in Wellingtons NICU unit (Absolutely amazing people!). We were discharged back to Palmerston North Hospital, I had to drive while Evie and my partner flew up. They did their checks and signed us up with a more then lovely Homecare team and Stoma nurse.
3 months past with plenty of help from family and friends, god bless them all. We were sent to get a MRI back in wellington where they informed us more about her Kidney being blocked (Needed to have surgery sooner then later). Also that she had a Tethered Spine, her coccyx was missing and that she has a Bicornuate Uterus (Split in two). Evie ended up having multiple scans for these issues.
December came around pretty quick to her next surgery, they cut a section off her kidney and joined it back together to try fix the blockage (It did, First Victory).
During February 2018, she went for her next surgery to make her a bum hole (all went well) and to teach us how to dilate her newly formed area.
8th of June 2018, this date was meant to be the last surgery, they were going to reconnect the tubes to her bottom. This surgery however did not go so well in the end. The connection failed, it started leaking into her abdomen. Evie got really sick, ended up developing Septicemia. She ended up having a second surgery to undo what they had just done. What was meant to be a 3-4 day trip ended up being 2 very long weeks. We were sent home in a condition worse off then we came, including 90% of my Annual leave gone. We do not blame anyone for this, these things happen.
The reason why I have decided to make this page is to ask for help to keep us all together for the next surgery, as I was made redundant this morning due to my employer needing to make cuts to save money.
Evie's next surgery is on the 14th of September in Wellington, please help us raise the funds to be there with our little girl.
Using the funds to cover the costs of being with Evie for her upcoming surgery, also to cover costs of bills while we are away. Any extras will be given back to Wellington's Children's Hospital.
