Homelessness looming as landlords moving in! Back surgery likely, the latest in a ongoing battle originating from a ankle injury

$130 of $300,000 goal
Given by 3 generous donors in 12 weeks

Facing surgery & desperately hoping for a roof over our heads but instead, facing homelessness, as landlords moving back in

Blenheim, Marlborough

We're devastated Mat's much loved home has to be sold! CHANGE!! Landlord is moving back in! Homelessness a real possiblity and no bond as they only required rent in advance.

Mat suffered a life changing injury in 2017, finally moving freely to then suffer a treatment injury. Fighting for ACC acceptance, back on crutches, moonboot, compression socks, 6 months & counting, causing him to miss coaching his 10th season of youngsters for Central Rugby club.

So many muck arounds, serious pain meds & still no resolve. The latest MRI has shown the development of epidural lipomatosis which most likely means back surgery this has affected his mental health hugely!! We both have kids with extra needs, which is an extra challenge.

We're a blended family, loud, energetic, crazy... well the kids are. we need a house that fits us all, so we can keep continuity for kids, get married, move in together & move forward. We believe God provides & that He put this idea into my heart, so we lay our pride aside.. Mat would help anyone he could even if it meant he missed out. We're both showing up for a better future for our children, struggling to make every dollar count but sadly no savings.

Both of us have done/do volunteer significantly within our community & are not idle beings.

From the bottom of our hearts if you can help we would be so humbled. Email, theliddicoatfam@gmail.com if you need more information.

At this point buying a home just does not seem to be possible.

Use of funds

Buying our house, but should we not meet the minimum deposit required any funds raised will go to making sure Mat has a safe appropriate vehicle to drive, and that we have a vehicle that fits us all. Anything left after that will be donated to charity.

More sad news  6 November 2023

So Mat was told today that the owners have decided one of them is moving back in whilst building a new place for himself. So buying it has gone out the window.

It seems like buying a house is just not meant to be for us at the moment and the moving is inevitable. So now any funds raised here are going to go towards a bond as when Mat rented this place the private landlords only wanted rent in advance.

Mat is gutted and it really feels in the all to much category. He has to be out by the 6th of December.

If you pray please pray God provides and amazing and affordable rental property for Mat and the kids, one that allows for our future plans of marriage and moving in together as a family.

2% Effective Fee
On average, fundraisers pay just 2% to use Givealittle. This is one of the lowest effective fees in New Zealand fundraising. We charge a 5% platform fee to cover the cost of running the platform. Because most donors choose to top up their donation to cover this fee, the effective cost paid by fundraisers is about 2%. That means around 98 cents of every dollar raised goes to the cause.
