My mum and dads Family home, all contents, pets lost to fire. 💔 Zero insurance
Whangaehu, Manawatu-Wanganui
In the early hours of Thursday 14th August my parents home (my childhood home) and all its contents were completely destroyed by fire. Thankfully my father was awake or was awakened and both managed to escape without serious injury. It happened so fast they did not have time to get anything out at all, just the clothes on their backs. My father is/was an avid collector or what some would see as junk but was more like a museum of antiques and collectibles, his prized harley davidson as well as all contents and everything sentimental dating back to me and my siblings childhood, every memory gone with nothing salvagable 💔 On top of this heartbreak the family pets 😭 they managed to get x2 dogs of 4 out but two are missing along with their rescued birds and cat collection (they had a few) tragically one of the little dogs that did get out ran straight out to the highway and was hit by a car, passing at an instant 💔 as I live and farm afar it is tricky for me to be there everyday in there time of need. I have visited and made sure their immediate needs were looked after. I am almost lost for words as to where to for them or how exactly to rebuild from nothing with their minimal finances and no insurance, my parents are in their sixties and do not work, they also have living with them my nephew whom has been raised by them since a young age. The house had already been sold by a court ordered sale due to financial hardship, however my parents received no money from the sale and they had no contents insurance — they need all the help they can get. I will be coordinating any funds prioritizing needs and appreciate support of any form.
I am their son.
Any funds will be carefully coordinated by myself and facilitated by trusted people only to go towards anything needed. I have met some essential needs but more clothes, bedding, furniture, appliances, accommodation and probable relocation will be required
