Donations needed for Jon's cancer treatments and travel, costs for wife's transition to full time work, to save family home.

Otago

Jon my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer in August last year. He was operated on, twice in January this year, the first operation to have the cancer removed (but new growths were found), the second as an emergency surgery where he nearly lost his life. Jon had to phone our kids from his hospital bed to say goodbye, then made me record his 'will' on my mobile phone before being rushed off to theater. This was a nightmarish experience. We are so thankful and grateful he survived, and we have a second chance at life and living with him. He is still very weak, and extremely thin, but seems to be recovering from the 2 operations and infection. We are now having to address his future cancer treatment needs to prolong and save his life, and maintain a quality of life that works for him. Plus the need for myself to go back in to full time work, and to save having to sell our home.

The hospital offered a chemo treatment specifically for his type of cancer that would have cost us $15,500, and offering little hope of any quality of life in his last days. As a result, we have changed direction with his treatment, by building up his immune system naturally, to fight his cancer.

I need to gain full time work, to reduce financial stress in Jon's life. With that comes the getting back to work expenses (update: so far spent $450 for flights plus petrol and accomodation ($200.00) to chch for a job interview, thanks to Dress for Success for all my beautiful interview clothes and shoes etc xxxx, I got the job in chch!! but have ended up taking a more local job here in Dunedin starting 26th March, THANK YOU to all who have recently kindly donated, I couldnt have done it without your donations, I love you all, thank you xxxx) .

Between Jon and I, we have one parent alive, my mum, the other three have all passed away from cancer, we have strong hope Jon wont be another statistic. We are doing everything possible to keep Jon going, by helping him with destressing (the biggest cause of cancer is stress) detoxing (fasting) and juicing. We need so many things. Organic fruits and vegetables for juicing and green smoothies($100.00/wk ongoing). A water purifier ($1200.00), garden beds and seedlings($1000.00)and a compost bin made($300.00?), a glasshouse, even a weed eater($200.00) to keep our new home tidy - should we need to sell it, we are hoping we wont.

We have placements booked on a fasting retreat in Paraparaumu for Friday 25th to Wednesday 30th October 2019. We need funds for that plus travel which comes to $3000.00 approx.

Plus we need funds to travel to the Brilin Centre in Timaru (costs approx $950.00 all up, for 1 month treatment, travel, accomodation and food), hopefully ongoing throughout this year (update: Jon is attending the Brilin Centre for one month! , thanks to "all" donations recieved to date in February) .

With any excess monies from now on, if they were generously given, will go towards funding travel to places overseas for Jon. Examples being The Hippocrates Institute, and the Cancer Center for Healing in California, and the Issels Immuno-Oncology. Also we are hoping to set up a funeral account, should the worse happen. This is all part of taking anything of stress out of Jon's life, now.

Thank you for your interest in reading this far. All prayers, and any funding are very gratefully appreciated, and will be put to good use (they have already) , to aid his quality of life with his family, and hopefully extend his life. Enough so maybe Jon may become strong enough to get back on his commuter bicycle to work, so that he may even live long enough to see our children graduate (his dream). Jon says he has so much to live for this year, with so many exciting things happening at his work that he really wants to be a part of, and contribute to. He loves his job, and his family.

Thank you, from our hearts.

I want to raise funds to send Jon my husband, and myself (as his support) on a fasting retreat in the North Island as a last resort to prolong Jon's life, to keep him strong enough to be able to remain at work long enough, for me to find and gain a full time job, in order to save our home from having to be sold (we have just bought our first home together, having spent years prior becoming debt free)

Use of funds

Air fares to the North Island and back, for the fasting retreat and other treatments in NZ, bridging finance for Helen to get a full time job in order to keep new first home, surplus to go on travel and treatment overseas, and for funeral costs if need be
