This page supports Fanie, a dairy worker battling oral cancer, and his family as they face surgery, treatment and financial hardship.
Waikato
Fanie, a 51-year-old dairy worker and father of two, faces a tough battle against aggressive oral cancer. Reconstructive surgery, radiation and chemotherapy lie ahead, preventing him from work for 6 - 12 months. His wife will be his caregiver, significantly impacting their income.
Fanie is also wonderfully creative, and crafts intricate clocks, festive Christmas ornaments, beautiful jewellery boxes, and so much more. But for now, the sawdust must settle. A necessary pause for recovery due to the risk dust particles poses post-surgery.
Please donate to support Fanie and his family through this challenging time.
As a long-time friend of the family I am asking for your support to help Fanie and his family navigate this difficult chapter.
Rent, travel cost, daily living expenses such as electricity and food.
Update 22 August 2025
On 13 August, Fanie underwent surgery to remove malignant tissue and glands. He spent two days in ICU for close monitoring before being moved to a private ward on 15 August. We're relieved to share that he was discharged home on 21 August. However, he still requires hospital-level care due to the breathing and feeding tubes that remain in place.
His incredible wife is taking on all of his care at home, and we can only imagine how physically and emotionally exhausting this must be for her. Please keep sending your love and positive thoughts their way—they mean so much during this challenging time.
There aren’t any new photos just yet, but we’re hopeful to share some in the next week or two. Thank you all for your continued support—it truly makes a difference. Please keep sharing this page link, and feel free to use the QR code to download and pass it along.
