  • DRAGON puss puss

      29 July 2019

The first images of the very scatty and hungry DRAGON PUSS taken by leaving security camera on the front step and leaving food out.

Am really hoping this money from GIVE A LITTLE finally comes through to enable me to trap and desex this guy before the breeding season kicks in!

  • Happy Little Man!!

      19 June 2019

He sure is improving still... Getting eye drops in has become a little easier and he looks so damn cute "running" away when anyone comes to help with this procedure.

Heart warming stuff to be truthful!

  • LITTLE MAN eye drop updates!

      12 June 2019

Holy cows. Boy that man can bite!

His regularly infections were back, but now he is more house friendly and loves pats and heat butts I could commit to getting eye drops into him twice a day. However, I should have gone to hospital with one of his bites after attempting this solo.

WOW. He STABS with his claws, rather than slashes, and is one of the fastest cats with his attacks I have ever had the misfortune to cross! :-)

Quite something, to be honest. He may struggle to get around and is showing every single second of his estimated twelve years of living rough, but once those claws are in and his teeth are against your skin, you are truly in trouble!

The swelling under my nail was such that the whole fingertip was bruised, right down to the knuckle that joins the hand! Once the swelling subsided after four days and plenty of soaking in salt water and alcohol rubs, I have a dent in my nail and he actually pierced the nail entirely and continued biting straight through... Combine that with the puncture wounds on the inside of the finger....

Well - You can understand why I have some trepidation about putting these eye drops in by myself...

Thanks to the help of a few passers by and a friend he has been getting the drops in his eyes at least once a day on average - and within a few mm of the eye on the remaining times when I have to try sneaking up and aiming whilst he is unawares.

His eyes and infections are looking much much better and I thank those who donated and CENTRAL VETS PALMERSTON NORTH for their help and good nature going the extra mile for him!

  • LITTLE MAN surgery complete...

      6 June 2019

LITTLE MAN has had teeth removed, gunrs cleaned and the like. He was one big ball of infection when I first met him a year ago and turns out he has an ulcer in the right eye and various infections (including swollen infected gums...)

So, he has eye ointments to apply, along with some pain killers and the good old antibiotics to ingest.

Seemed very happy after a few hours of attempting to run away, or wobble off as the case may be. Even got some purs by rubbing my head on his in cat greeting fashion.

    Yay!

The bugger seemed to know which foods were hiding any drugs, but then the bowls were clean come morning...

  • Drove to Palmerston North

      31 May 2019
    Main image

No offence intended at all to the other vets that charged me fifty NZ dollars just to look in his mouth but central vets in Palmerston North charged me nothing to check his teeth and have given me a slightly discounted deal on getting the surgery performed.

The poor LITTLE MAN does need this. He has got uncomfortable, constantly licking at his sore teeth... So, sooner the better!

Therefore I have booked in for Wednesday next week. I will borrow some money and make good with the vets at that point. I am keeping the fundraiser going to the $900 range in the hope that I will be able to trap and fix the other ferals that I am feeding outside. Each trap, neuter and release will cost a hundred to a hundred and fifty.

This could mean there will be four wild cats that are going to be "okay" and potentially will not have dozens of offspring come Christmas!

  • WOW - There are some good people out there still!

      30 May 2019

I am super impressed to find any single donation here, but then to see a total of $130 once GIVEALITTLE (spark) take their 5%... It's GREAT of every single one of you!

Have been trying to break the news to Little Man that he will be off to vet in order to have teeth removed. Don't think he is quite getting it...

Oops - I meant to say "they go down with being chewed...." as he just sticks them on his tongue and flicks them up before swallowing....

Poor fella... You need to chew those treaties to get the best effect from them!
