Give LITTLE MAN (abused and mistreated cat) a quiet & happy life by removing painful and horribly broken teeth & DESEXING other stray cats!
Manawatu / Whanganui
Have been dealing with these wild feral characters for a year and a half before moving to Levin from Hutt in Wellington. I am only on a sickness benefit due to destroying my spine building, so by the time the lease on my shed (yes, I live in a shed, okay!) is paid, and the cats are all fed and watered there is little left over.
Currently I have the three ex ferals living with me as house cats after a lot of hard work to get them to that stage of being happy living inside with their sworn enemy (humans)... There are another two which come for meals every night and a couple of other youngsters, six months old perhaps, who turn up at odd occasions.
Any money given to this fund raising effort will go directly to local vets for Little Mans required surgeries to remove badly ruined and very sore teeth. It is very sad watching him lick his broken canine in an effort to stop the pain after every meal. But testament to these wild cats character that he will still eat cat biscuits if one of the other cats knocks them over... They are determined and strong characters who become the most loyal and trusting animals known.
I have been feeding some more feral wild cats outside each night in an effort to get them trapped and neutered. The South West area of Levin is full of stray / feral / wild cats and not enough people are helping to fix the problem.
So - One cat at a time, I will use ALL money received for vets care to help fix these animals to prevent more problems for future generations.
Have dealt with a few wild, feral, cats out here in the Hutt Valley.. My only source of income is a sickness benefit, which sucks badly... This poor Mini Axe Puss (now known as Little Man) was trapped after six months of coming around and getting friendly enough to hide under my car whilst food was thrown out. Unfortunately, he has been three-legged and almost one-eyed for a few months before being hit by a car and dragging himself with his one good leg. Arg.
So, my involvement is that I cared enough to feed the little wild man. and already have dealt with his Dad, other litters and other family members. However now requiring vet care to give this fella any chance of finding a peaceful happy existence...
VET MONEY to ease suffering in abused or damaged cats and desexing cats as part of a TRAP, NEUTER, RELEASE (TNR) scheme.

The first images of the very scatty and hungry DRAGON PUSS taken by leaving security camera on the front step and leaving food out.
Am really hoping this money from GIVE A LITTLE finally comes through to enable me to trap and desex this guy before the breeding season kicks in!
Hello Pendragon, I have no doubt that people on the same wavelength as me will simply know and understand these little cats and kittens are considered more than worthy of my help... At least, that is how I feel, 100%, so surely others can pick up on that and get some idea as to the hours and years of tiny steps it takes to provide a happy outcome for just a few of the felines from feral colonies. It is WIN WIN WIN in my mind... Although am still working out exactly how I will ever win in a capitalist sense, but at least I am not going deeper into debt and can now afford to desex and start on "human socialising" this little black tearaway outside each evening. Quite a looker, if only six months old and very skinny with it... Have been thinking of a name which doesn't sound like the others so he / she gets used to being called for food... "Dragon" may just do for now. Thank you.
Wow again..... Totally stoked that someone unknown to me and this system would go out of their way to help these little cats... The little black one running around outside at dusk has started running away only as far as the nearest car to hide under... And even paused after jumping a few feet backwards the other night to have a look at me for a few seconds before WALKING under the car! YAY... Really looks as though another feral rescue and house cat conversion will be happening before spring and breeding season starts!
WOW! It amazes me every time someone comes forward and helps with these silly animals... I can only imagine that others have had the fortune to get to know a saved animal themselves and can relate to the effort, expense and expertise required... I have the effort... Working on coping with the other two! Thanks to everyone who even considers spending any of the three things on saving and dealing with the wild animal population in their area...
OMG YES YES YES... The Little Guy is due on operating table in less than twelve hours! Absolutely stoked with your help, thank you. From what others have said about dealing with cats who have had very poor nutrition and non treated injuries, it seems common to have their teeth falling out, broken and painful... :-( So, fortunately, having the toothypegs removed gives the puttytat a new outlook on life! I feel for these guys as myself happens to be arthritic and missing teeth. So, pain is a constant for me too... When the pain subsides, even for a day or two, I go and socialise and do normal things. But the weeks in between are not very good. Completely empathise with the little fellow. Just hope that if he does start bouncing around like a spring chicken I have enough energy to keep him entertained! Thank you! Will post video here tomorrow as an update!
Brilliant of you and your cat colony to share! I have been burning the candle at both ends in all sorts of ways and this is a real eye opener. I do my best, as I am sure so many do, but there is just not enough people putting their hand up and putting their effort forward as much as their mouths suggest they are online... If everyone did look after one single feral cat by way of fixing and feeding, we may well have had the wild population converted to house cats New Zealand wide already! THANK YOU for the words and the help with the vet costs. I do put $15 into an account "savings only" but then it got cleaned out with emergencies... Including well over a hundred on vet and petrol costs for this current situation - and he hasn't even had any actual care yet! Just vets and people looking!
