This is a fundraiser for Ajit Chand in his fight against Prostate cancer.
Auckland
Dear friends and family,
Please join us as we come together to help our father (Papa), husband, grandfather, uncle, brother, friend, nephew and co worker as he steps forward into the next part of his journey in his fight against Prostate cancer.
August 2021 Ajit Chand, a 57 year old was diagnosed with locally advanced Prostate cancer. He has Adenocarcinoma of Prostate with a Gleason Pattern of 3+4. Since March 2021, Ajit has been struggling with Obstructive Urinary Flow Symptoms. He has server symptoms of frequency and has been struggling with sleepless nights consecutively for the past four months. On digital rectal examination, he had an Enlarged Prostate of about 98cc with firmness on both the lobes and absence of the Median Sulcus. Ultrasound scan showed that he had a 98cc Prostate, large bladder residual volumes. Prostate-specific antigen (PSA) done showed that he has a PSA of 36.78ng/ml.
Please see the medical report link below for reference.
Early August, he was booked for a biopsy procedure which later was changed to T.U.R.P procedure that cost him around FJD $13,500.00. The funds were arranged by his children and families. Histology from the resection has proven that he has Adenocarcinoma of the Prostate with a Gleason Pattern of 3 + 4. A repeat PSA was done in September and showed he had a PSA of 41.96ng/ml.
Prior to seeking private health care hospital, he sought consultation for his medical issues with the government hospital. Unfortunately, due to COVID outbreak in Fiji everything was put on hold and his only option was to seek treatment with Oceania Hospital, a privately operated hospital in Fiji.
Following a discussion with Doctor Sireli Kaloucava, Consultant Urological Surgeon here in Fiji, he was told that intention to cure prostate cancer through surgery is not an option for him; however, there may be a chance of cure through Radiotherapy. Fiji does not offer Radiotherapy treatment; hence, he is intending to undergo his treatment in New Zealand.
As such, Ajit requests for financial support to enable him to undergo Radiotherapy treatment as soon as possible. Due to his condition, he is unable to work and go about his daily lifestyle. Recently on September 6th, Ajit Chand received a Sub-cut injection of Zoladex 10.8mg in order to suppress the malignancy and give him enough time to make travel arrangements abroad.
We all know and love Ajit (Papa) beyond words. He is a positive, charismatic, and loving person who has always put others before himself. Now is the time for us to offer any support we can. For those that cannot provide support financially, please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
On behalf of the Chand family, we sincerely thank everyone for your ongoing support, and for your healing prayers and positive energy. May God bless you all.
Ajit Chand is my brother.
The money that we raise will be used on his Radiotherapy treatment in New Zealand.
