Figure Skater's opportunity of a life time!

It is with a very warm and proud heart, that the Dunedin Ice Skating Club announce that Anya Gipp has been asked to skate for Team Sweden and have the opportunity to be a part of the team that is heading to the 2019 World Synchronised Skating Championships in Helsinki, Finland.

Anya began skating in Dunedin at the age of 7. She was a part of team Icicools which began as a development synchro team and, as the athletes became older and changed levels, they took over the legacy of the Dunedin Ice Skating Club’s main team, Icentric, and became NZ Junior Synchronised Skating champions. She is one of few skaters in NZ to have their Gold Star Stroking test - the highest qualification in test stroking.

This is an opportunity that is out of this world and we are just beyond thrilled for Anya.

With this opportunity, there are always costs to pay though. This will cost Anya approximately $10,000NZD.

Cost breakdown:

$6,500 toward Team Boomerang, coaching, ice, costume and competition fees

$3,500 in travel and accommodation needs

This once in a lifetime opportunity for Anya doesn't come knocking for everyone and we would like to assist with the financial burden in any way we can! This means that she can focus on the skating and make a name for NZ skaters over in Europe.

With Synchro being discussed as a hopeful contender at the 2022 Winter Olympic Games, this moment is a life changer for Anya and the New Zealand Ice Skating community.
