Fiji Village Project - Clair's fundraising page!

$235 of $750 goal
Given by 8 generous donors in 9 weeks

I'll be travelling to Fiji in January 2020 for the Fiji Village Project and would love your help in fundraising for it!

Auckland

Hey guys!!

As some of you might know, I am super passionate about all things humanitarian aid-related, and so it's been a huge privilege to have been selected for the Fiji Village Project 2020!!

The Project is an annual two-week trip involving NZ & Australian uni students studying in healthcare fields. The aim is to provide basic health screening + health promotion in a Fijian village and set up water tanks for a safer water supply.

As you can imagine, the Project relies heavily on fundraising - each of us will self-fund our trip, and is asked to fundraise on top of this - hence this Give-a-Little page!

Would love it if you could chip in - would be the best Christmas present if I could reach my target goal!

Thanks heaps for reading!

As part of the Fiji Village Project, each participant is asked to raise as much of $750 as possible to cover the associated costs.

Use of funds

Each of us who has been selected is asked to contribute a $750 donation towards the Project - I'll be combining funds from this page with any other fundraising I do!

A final thank you!   20 January 2020

To everyone who supported me:

A HUGE THANK YOU once again!

I have just returned from an extremely eye-opening and inspiring two weeks in Fiji and have many stories to share about my time there. Unfortunately there isn't enough room here to write down everything I would like to, but the very least I could do is to share with you where your donations went:

The village we "sponsored" this year was Matacaucau, about 1.5 hours drive out of Suva. We were able to fund two water tanks for the village, as well as conduct basic health screening for blood pressure and diabetes, health education surrounding common health conditions and infectious diseases, fluoride treatment for teeth, dental extractions/fillings and checkups and provide toothpaste and brushes to villagers. As the water tanks were cheaper than expected, we will be using leftover funds in the Fiji Village Project bank account to purchase medical items and help fund next year's project.

Unfortunately I was only allowed to choose one photo to attach, so here is one with all the students and the chief of Matacaucau in front of one of the water tanks outside the community hall - see if you can spot me haha!

Thank you to all of you once again for supporting the Project - we couldn't have done it without you!!

Vinaka Vakalevu,

Clair
