Final Plea for Ilze

However it is with a heavy heart to be once again appealing for Ilze.

Ilzes diagnosis came in May 2014, 6 years ago. High Grade adenocarcinoma of the Ovary with peritoneal involvement.

The battle began.

6 years of treatment, surgery, the joys of remission but then the shattering news of relapse in 2018/2019.

Ilze once again started treatment, but became resistant. Treatment was not working. Options were becoming very limited.

Avastin, unfunded, was one of the only options available and with thanks to the overwhelming generosity of family, friends and strangers, this was made possible. 2 weekly treatments.

November 2019 disease was confirmed to be stable. For now Ilze was having 2 weekly treaments with the comfort of knowing at this time disease was halted.

Present time.

Ilze has received the dreaded news that the disease has reared its ugly head and gathered speed and has spread to her outer lining of bowel.

The last, final option of gaining precious time is a drug called Caelyx. Unfunded.

At present Ilze will require 1 cycle every 4 weeks. 6 cycles in total. For the drug alone, estimated cost of $6894, per cycle. Infusion cost of $3392 per cycle. You can see the cost. With added costs of blood transfusions etc, this will be more.

Imagine, the only hope of extending your life comes at such a great cost.

Ilze and Pieter are exploring all their own personal avenues of gaining the finances, but this alone will not be enough for the treatment.

Ilze, her mindset and positivity has not faultered. She is on a roller coaster of unbelievable challenges, emotionally and physically which are unimagineable unless living it.
