    Kia Ora ano Whanau,

It's been an exhausting 2 weeks to the day...ish. We have been on an emotional roller-coaster to say the least and we as a whanau have grown stronger than ever before. I personally want to thank you all for your ongoing love and support over this journey our Bumblebee 💛💛💛 is taking us all on.

Hunter is now at the whanau home in his new room.

We would like to ask that we have no visitors until Monday if you were to visit at all. Please come between 1pm and 5pm or organise a time outside these hours with Bailee Barber and Kristian Barber.

If you have been sick or around any sick children we ask that you do not visit until you and/or the children are symptom free for 48hrs.

No children are to visit Hunter in his room please.

Thank you all again and much love from me and the Whanau.

    Morena whanau,

Our lil man, Hunter is stable & making little steps forward every day which has been a marvel to witness. The size of the motor our bumblebee has is just amazing, his sheer will to keep fighting is an inspiration to us all.

I haven't been posting much about our boys journey, that has been left up to his siblings & his mama.

I am just wanting to say THANK YOU!!! to everyone who has shown/ expressed their aroha & support towards our whanau @ this difficult time as we try & fight the fight with our lil man.

The amount of aroha for our lil man is simply amazing & humbly overwhelming sometimes but gracefully excepted.

Please whanau & friends feel free to come & visit our lil man @ his hospital bed, so you can release that mokemoke that you have been carrying the past week or so. It will help with our boys healing to feel your touch on his arms & he will feel the aroha in heart.

    💛💛💛

    Kia Ora whanau,

Yesterday afternoon we received the go ahead to bring our boy home. Hunter is now in palliative care at the Hastings Hospital with our mama, which just means we are making sure he is as comfortable as possible until he decides he’s ready to leave us. In saying that as long as our boy is still breathing we continue to fight with him, with all the strength we have. We are focused on surrounding our bumblebee with as much positivity and aroha as we can.

We just ask that when visiting our boy, if you are or have been sick recently to make sure you are fully recovered before visiting. No kids at this stage please because of the measles epidemic.

Visiting hours are strictly between 1pm - 8pm as per hospital rules. He is in the children’s ward, Room 62.

We are extremely humbled by all the love and support by everyone. We appreciate it all and are grateful that our boy has made all of us stronger as a whanau. He fights, we fight with him. 💛💛💛

    Kia ora whanau,

So this has been the most distressing and longest week of our lives. We as a whanau have found so much strength from all your love and prayers and for that we are truly thankful to have you all in our lives.

Our little bumblebee has been dealt a very shitty hand and it breaks our hearts seeing him this way. The tumor Hunter has is a very rare one, it is aggressive and terminal.

Yesterday we were preparing to lose our wee boy however Hunter has had other ideas and Hunter is showing us that he's going out in Hunters time.

So, with this we are hoping to bring Hunter home next week to be surrounded by all his loved ones.

Thank you all so much, all your aroha has given my precious whanau hope and strength to continue on Hunters journey.

From our family to all of you, WE LOVE YOU💔💖💕

    Ata Marie whanau,

As a whanau we have met with doctors and other medical professionals and discussed what Hunter's journey looks like moving forward.

Hunter, as you all know, has been through so much since Thursday night and he is getting tired. What he has gone through adults and children in the same situation, very few survive. Doctors have admitted that they are not always right about what's next and even with scans it's difficult to say what Hunter will do.

With very heavy hearts we want to tell our extended family and friends that our time with Hunter is limited. This is because the tumor that Hunter had done quite a bit of damage to the brain and there is a small amount of it left in places of the brain that are important. Hunter will decide now when he has had enough whether that be tomorrow, a week, a month or 3months. We are on his time (as usual) and we will continue to fight with him surrounded by whanau aroha and positive vibes.

Hunter is breathing by himself however, the breathing tubes are still in, just in case. The doctors are taking these out today at some point and what we are looking for is that he continues to breathe and also swallows and coughs unassisted. We are going to continue to monitor his condition closely after this. As I said we are on Hunter's time and when Hunter has had enough, we will make him comfortable and pain free before he does decide to continue on his journey wherever that may be.
