Finny's Fight

My brother Fin has recently been diagnosed with Stage 3 Melanoma when he found changes in a mole on his temple last year. For the last 6 months, the doctors have been working towards a treatment plan which has included performing surgery to remove the mole. This unfortunately came with complications when he had a anaphylactic reaction during surgery which found him in the Intensive Care unit. He has bravely battled through coming to terms with this diagnosis, which turns out is a very rare form of cancer in someone who has only been around 28 years… the cancer has unfortunately spread to his Lymph nodes and we are now at the turning point of this journey where Fin will be undergoing Immunotherapy treatment to evict the bastard and let Fin get on with the rest of his life. BUT, the catch is this type of Immunotherapy required is not funded in New Zealand.

Estimated costs for 12 cycles of this treatment are $91,620.

For those of you that don’t know Fin, he is the younger, taller, and much more creative version of me. He makes a MEAN cup of coffee and has been working as a barista for the last 5 years. He has an amazing and supportive partner Tara, who along with Mum (Angela) & Dad (Bernie), has been doing all the heavy lifting in supporting Fin through this journey.
