Fire destroyed Monika's sleepout and all her belongings

Safe and warm

  19 July 2020

As a wee update, how are we doing up here in Hawea Flat, New Zealand. I would like to let everyone know, I am safe and warm. Staying with my old lady Margaret at her house in Hawea Flat, which luckily survived. Except melted water tangs and burned power box, which took the power and water from us for that night and next day, we are really lucky that Margaret's house, just cross the road is still there.

And it would not be If Fire Emergency New Zealand, Wanaka fireman, Hawea fireman would not come so fast and sort it out here. Ehara koe i a ia!

I would also like to thank to all our neighbours, little community of lovely people in Hawea Flat and friends, who came immediately. Were here with us to calm us down, to give us some water, light and hope it all will be alright. Thank you for all your kidness, care, clothes, food and big help.

I would also like to thanks heaps to great sparky Ethan Flynn - EJ Electrical LTD, who left everything behind and came straight away, set up totally new power box, which gave our power and water back to us in few hours. To be honest, it's quiet scary to realize how used to we are splashing toalets, water coming out of tap and switching power on and off anytime we want to. And we don't realize till we loose it. Thank you!!!
