I share this message from Stuarts family. I will be closing the donations on this page. If you wish to give more, please contact Stuarts family, or if preferred, myself (Hannah Noble) and I can ensure it is passed along to those who are making arrangements and caring for their children.
It is with heavy hearts 💔 that we inform you of the passing of Stuart Johnstone in the early hours of this morning Wednesday 19/06/24
Thankyou for your love and support shown to Stuart and his family over the past few months.
Stuart is now with Jesus and totally healed.
Please continue to pray for Stuart’s children -
Kane, Olivia, Lucy, Imogen and Keziah.
And for his family
Robert, Frances, Sarah, Keith and Katie
Rest in peace with your Caudine dear Stuart. What a pleasure to have met you both and share your special journey having Lucy and Imogen. I won’t ever forget you both. X Jan
After spending 14 days in the John Hunter Hospital receiving treatment for an infection in the skin on my face, with mixed results, I was told a scan had revealed that the cancer tumour has shifted internally and that the infection had likely spread to my brain.
I was to be transferred to Singleton Hospital for Palliative Care (end of life care).
Today is day 14 at Singleton. Still receiving treatment to help maintain vision in my left eye and I still take each day as it comes
It is great being where I am as I get to see my children, family and friends and so far have my end of life plan working.
I will never know which will be my last update but Thank you all for your support through this very difficult time.
If you do live locally please feel free to visit me in hospital, for those that don’t give me a call, I will answer if I can.
I just wanted to clarify my comment regarding "last option" in the last message. This means that the options from here are likely to be clinical trials of some sort (Thanks for helping making that clear Stuart)
Stuart has been accepted into a trial, which is the last treatment option available (as far as I'm aware). I've included snippets of his Facebook updates below to let you know what this next step involves for him.
The next phase is upon us. I go Sydney this week to sign up for a phase 1 clinical trial. This will inlcude a series of baseline tests and then weekly trips to Sydney for treatment. Actual treatment is tentatively booked to begin on February 20th.
It will mean weekly trips to Sydney and multiple nights away from home for the first few weeks but then hopefully it will be just one night away from home each week.I will most likely travel to and from Sydney on the train, as it is a long way to ask people to drive me.
The picture is from their family Memory making day at the Australian Reptile Park. Thank you for those that donated to allow this day to be possible.
Stuart shared heartbreaking news yesterday. Heres his update "Saw my oncologist this morning. Bad news, treatment is not working so it has been stopped. PET scan on Friday to get a clearer picture of what the cancer is doing. There are a couple of clinical trial options. I will know more in 2 weeks. But my time is running out."
Stuart shared this update with friends and family this week. "My cancer tumour has increased in size forcing a change in my treatment. The plan is to start up radiation again next week (I don’t know how long this will be) and then move onto a chemo tablet while continuing the immunotherapy."
Thank you so much for the incredible support for Stuart and the family. I can't put into words how much this will mean to them.
