Fixing Flynn’s Heart - We need to say Goodbye xxx - Please see our latest Update.

  • Heart broken.

      20 December 2017

Since arriving at Starship on November 27th we've been on an incredible journey of ups and downs, hope and inspiration, and now immense sadness.

On Monday 18th December the amazing, courageous and wonderful cardiologists who have fought and fought for our wee monster told us that there was nothing more they could do to fix our wee Flynn's heart.

It was the most devastating low point for us that there was nothing more we, or they, could do for our Flynn.

With all the love in the world we just couldn't fix his heart. His wee heart was broken and now ours are too. Flynn became the cheekiest, smiliest wee angel in heaven on the morning of Tuesday December, 19th. He was surrounded by the people who loved him the most.

Our wee Flynn has the heart and courage of a lion and the love of everyone who ever met him

We wish to sincerely thank all the wonderful people who have supported us through the most awful time in our lives. The donations here from those that we know and those that we don't have truly overwhelmed and humbled us. The on-going messages of support and love are inspirational to us.

To the Team at Starship and Ronald McDonald house, words fail us on how to convey to you the care and compassion shown to us and how wonderfully you looked after not only our wee Flynn but us as well.

From our hearts and Flynn's heart, much love to each and everyone of you who have in any way supported us. We do now need your ongoing support to help us bring Flynn home from Auckland and the next step in saying goodbye to him in the way he deserves. Thank you from Us xxx

  • Hope.

      10 December 2017

We love our wee Flynn to the moon and back and it is so confronting and challenging to see him so very, very unwell.

His wee heart may not be in peak condition right now but that wee chap has the heart and courage of a lion to keep on fighting like he does (Much like his Mum and Dad).

The breathing tube was removed again this week and we are quietly optimistic that this time it won't need to go back in. There were no big celebrations this time when it came out as the 'crash' that came after it went back in last time was truly character building. We're just taking it one day at a time with very quiet celebrations after we achieve another 24 hours without it.

Once again our hearts, (and particularly wee Flynn's) thank you for each and every donation, message of support that comes in. It lets us focus totally on Flynn and not the reality and stress of how to pay the mortgage and bills. It has been truly humbling to see donations come in from all over the world - Indonesia, Wales, Canada, Germany. So much love and gratitude.

With much love to you all from Flynn and his family.

  • Ups and Downs.

      4 December 2017

We’ve now been at Starship Hospital for a week. We’ve had some incredibly tough times and one bright star when Flynn’s breathing tube was removed and Mum and Dad both got to have a cuddle with their wee monster.

There were smiles from Flynn for everyone and glimpses of his wee sparkle coming back. We finally had something to smile about although we knew it was a very long road ahead to fix his heart.

Sadly wee Flynn needed more support, just 24 hours later and the breathing tube went back in. Huge amount of tears after such high hopes.

Matt and Lari send their love to all those wonderful people who have sent bundles of love and support to them.

To all those that have contributed to their Give A Little Page words can’t express the gratitude and thanks especially to those who don’t know us personally - much love to you from Us and Flynn xx. We hope you’re reading this and know how very much it means to us.

We are truly humbled by all the love and support around us.
